Every Helper is verified before they can work
The FyxLocal Verified badge isn't automatic. It requires a government-issued ID, a manual review by our team, and ongoing monitoring. Here's exactly how it works.
Step by step
- 1
Profile review
When a Helper creates their profile, our team reviews the information they have provided — their bio, listed services, and any portfolio images. Incomplete or suspicious profiles are flagged before proceeding.
- 2
Government-issued ID check
Every Helper must upload a clear photo of a valid government-issued document — either a UK driving licence or a passport. We do not accept any other form of identification.
- 3
Manual admin review
A member of our team reviews every ID submission manually. We check that the document is valid, that the photo matches the profile, and that the information is consistent. This takes up to 24 hours on business days.
- 4
Verified badge awarded
Only once the manual review is passed does the Helper receive their Verified badge. They cannot appear in public listings, apply for jobs, or accept bookings until this step is complete.
- 5
Ongoing monitoring
Verification is not a one-time event. We monitor Helper activity, reviews, and dispute history. Helpers who accumulate complaints or negative reviews may have their verification suspended pending further review.
What “Verified” means
This Helper has had their identity verified by FyxLocal
When you see the Verified badge, it means a member of our team has reviewed a government-issued photo ID (UK driving licence or passport) for this person. Their identity has been confirmed and their account is in good standing.
Payment protection
Every payment on FyxLocal is processed via Stripe and held in escrow until you confirm the work is complete. This means:
Held until complete
Your payment is never released to the Helper until you mark the job done.
Stripe-protected
Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified provider. We never store your card details.
Dispute window
If the work isn't done to standard, raise a dispute before confirming completion. Funds stay frozen while we investigate.
The £4.99 booking fee charged to job posters is a platform administration fee and is non-refundable once a booking is confirmed. The job amount itself remains in escrow until job completion is confirmed by both parties.
Dispute resolution
If something goes wrong with a job, FyxLocal acts as a neutral mediator. Here's how the process works:
- 1
Raise a dispute via the booking page before marking the job complete
- 2
Both parties are notified and asked to provide evidence (photos, messages, descriptions)
- 3
Our team reviews all submissions within 5 business days
- 4
We contact both parties with our decision and any action taken
- 5
Funds are released or refunded according to the outcome

Common questions
What does the Verified badge actually mean?
It means FyxLocal has manually reviewed and confirmed a government-issued photo ID for this Helper. Their name and photo match the document on file with us. It does not guarantee quality of work, but it does mean you know who you're hiring.
Can I hire an unverified Helper?
No. Helpers cannot accept bookings until they have completed ID verification and their profile has been approved. Every Helper you see in listings has been verified.
What happens if I have a problem with a Helper?
Raise a dispute through the platform before confirming job completion. Our team reviews the case and any evidence provided by both sides within 5 business days. Your payment remains in escrow throughout.
Is my payment safe if the job goes wrong?
Yes. Payment is held by Stripe and only released to the Helper once you confirm the work is complete. If you raise a dispute, funds are frozen until it is resolved.
